To get there from Shelter Cove, simply follow Shelter Cove Road for 9.1 miles until it turns into Briceland Road. Then turn left onto Redwood Drive and continue for 1.8 miles until Redwood Drive turns right and becomes Dean Creek Road. From there, turn left to merge onto US-101 N and take exit 645 for Avenue of the Giants/State Route 254 toward Hooker Creek Road/Phillipsville. Merge onto CA-254 N/Avenue of the Giants, and continue north for approximately 30 miles.
For a great loop trip from Shelter Cove, start by stopping at Founders Grove for a 1/2 hike, which is about 20 miles north of where you get on the 101 from the Cove.
