Fishing at Shelter Cove

Ahoy there, landlubbers! Are you ready for some fishy tales from Shelter Cove, California? Well, grab your fishing gear and buckle up, because I've got a whopper of a story for you.

The first time we cast our lines in Shelter Cove, we couldn't believe our luck. The water was warm, the Tuna were biting, and our crew of 4 was ready to reel in some serious catches. My buddy Dave brought his trusty 20-foot aluminum boat all the way from the Bay Area, and we launched it using a tractor down in town. Pro tip: for just $50, you can get your boat dropped off and picked up without having to break a sweat.

So, we set off into the wide blue yonder, trolling for Tuna about 10 miles offshore. And let me tell you, it didn't take long for us to hook some serious fish. Within 15 minutes, we had a fish on the line, and before we knew it, we had three fish thrashing around on the deck. It was a chaotic, adrenaline-fueled experience, and we loved every minute of it.

We fished for three days straight, and each of us came home with a haul of fish that would make even the most seasoned angler jealous. We caught Tuna, a variety of Rock Fish, and even some Halibut. And let me tell you, the scenery out there is nothing short of spectacular. The King Range and Shelter Cove are the perfect backdrop for a fishing trip that you'll never forget.

So, if you're looking for a fishing adventure that will make your friends back home green with envy, head on over to Shelter Cove. You won't regret it, matey. Just be sure to bring your sea legs and a healthy appetite for adventure.

Shelter Cove Boat Launch Service

Additional Information

The Shelter Cove Boat Launch Service is a service provided by the Shelter Cove Fishing Preservation, Inc. that allows boaters to launch their boats into the ocean safely and efficiently. The service uses a specially designed tractor to launch boats from the boat launch area in Shelter Cove, which is located near the Shelter Cove Harbor.

To use the service, boaters must first pay a fee of $50, which includes both the launch and the retrieval of the boat. This fee can be paid in cash or by credit card at the launch site. Once payment is made, the boater can position their boat in the designated launch area and attach it to the tractor using the provided straps. The tractor then pulls the boat into the water and releases it into the ocean.

When the boater is ready to retrieve their boat, they simply need to radio the launch service using a provided radio, and the tractor will be dispatched to retrieve the boat from the water and bring it back to the launch area. The service is available to both local residents and visitors to Shelter Cove.

Overall, the Shelter Cove Boat Launch Service is a convenient and affordable way for boaters to launch their boats safely into the ocean and enjoy all that the waters around Shelter Cove have to offer.
