A native to Humboldt, Robin was born just over the hill in Garberville, California.  She was first introduced to massage when at the age of 18 she was involved in a major car accident.  Her insurance company provided massage treatment therapy.  After seeing the benefits of these sessions, she enrolled herself into Heartwood Massage Institute.  There she studied Swedish Therapeutic massage.

Then in May of 2007, along with fellow Heartwood alumni, Arika Andres, the two decided Shelter Cove could use a spa.  The two were tired of driving the 45 minutes over the hill into Garberville and Redway to get massages and saw a need  for a day spa here in Shelter Cove. Black Sands Bodyworks Day Spa was born.

Robin currently specializes in Spa Massage which is a more relaxing treatment and sport massage which is more stretching.

Arika studied Swedish Theraputic Massage with Robin at Heartwood Massage Institute.  Book a massage with her today and  you will begin to relax just thinking about it.

Reta Riley specializes in Reiki. Reiki is a technique for stress reducation and relaxation that originates from Japan. It is based on “Life Force Energy”  that the therapist manipulates by a technique called “Laying on Hands”  Find out more by booking a treatment session with Reta.

Robin and Arika have both gone on to do Myofacial Muscle Release Course, which is technique in which  the therapist uses soft tissue manipulation when it has become impaired or has altered its’s ability to function in relation to skeletal, arthrodial, and myofascial structures, and their related vascular, lymphatic, and neural elements.  They also furthered their education by taking a Hot Stone Class.   Hot Stone Massage is where a massage therapist takes stones heated to around 120˚ degree fahrenheit. These stones are then set on specific points of the body and the therapist use these stones to further relax and allow them to work deeper into the muscles.
